Cats at different heights 11/07/10

Out for an afternoon training drive, it is very hot, but birds are always around so we started enjoying the usual bird life made of francolins and guineafowls, drongos and hornbills...
Then form another camp my friend Mapalala called in.
We drove there and there they were, two different species of cats in
the same spot. Leopard up on a baobab with his meal, an almost finished impala carcass , and 18 lions at the base of the same exact tree.
The spotted one was completely at ease, comfortable on what definitely was a safe place where to doze, the lions occasionally lurking at him from the grass below.

The light was good, lions kept moving fe meters at a time and sitting down again to find more pleasant places where to stay while the sun was becoming minute after minute less hot, the leopard just moved the head one side or the other of his wooden pillow, we just did not know where to look.. Pure fun.
The only unhappy one, I guess, was the impala, a pile of bones and skin hanging form the big tree.
