Brave Trio 29/06/10

6.15 morning drive.... Beautiful giraffes at the old airstrip. We spotted the tortilis pride in a nice open area under the scarce shade of Acacia Kirkii. On of the two males performed nicely walking around the car, sniffing female's urine and pushing the pheromones to the jacobson's organ to understand wether she was of any interest for him or not. The big boy grimacing close to the car was quite a sighting.
We got another good lioness later on, 5 giraffes were all staring to an area in front of us, all completely focused and oblivious of everything else. So we checked carefully the area and we found the cat sitting placid behind a small bush. Good one.
The afternoon drive was dedicated to elephants and in the end we also got another small pride, one big adult but young male and two females, just in the border of the territories of two of the major powers of the park, the Kipunji and the mbagi prides.... brave trio!!!
