Ultimate zebra survival 05/06/10

It was a difficult morning drive, half of the park is burnt so it was a bit difiicult to find game, we got one ellie with a broken ear trumpeting at us and then no others. Which here is very very very weird.
Eventually we got lions the other side of the river in the tortilis forest, bit far but at least they were walking and trying to stalk some kudus.
The afternoon drive was better, we went to mwayembe, we got plenty of ellies in mbagi, 2 lionesses half way and three at the springs, guest were chuffed and so were we.
I always grant a lot of respect to zebras for the strenght they have, the capacity of surviving the most vicious lions attacks, but this time one of them really surprised me. We spotted one with a scar going from the spine all the way to the belly, it looked like two different zebras stitched together, just insane, ultimate zebra survival.
We also saw a little chick of Black faced sand grouse, the cutest thing ever, as soon as we approached the parents moved under cover and the little one just froze on the spot, still like a stone in order to try to resemble one it did not even flinch when I started the car again to leave the sighting, his reward was to come some seconds later with the parents going back to escort him to safety.
