Part of the herd

When you have 4 lion's sighting in a morning and one of them consist of them stalking and then chasing impalas, this is normally the highlight of your day. WRONG! The elphants in the afternoon were way better.
We drove to Mbagi and from the hill we saw plenty of elephants at Festo crossing (so called because some days ago, testing a car we got stuck there, took three hrs to get out and he was driving).
We promptly decided to go there and we approached them slowly, the road cutting through tall tatching grass, the lephant were there, many of them, more then 30 i would say, most of them already left the river bed to feed in the grass we were driving in.
We moved swiftly as possible considering I was driving. We arrived 6-7 mtrs from the ellies and stop there, enjoyed what was already a nice sighting.
The pachiderms went on feeding and soon became oblivious of us, they were all around us and came closer and closer, one young female arrived around 2 mtrs from my side of the car, her tusks so near I could see the small cracks, her feet shaded by the car, close to a point where I had to talk to her in order to make her aware of our presence.
.

Drongos were feasting on the insect startled by the ellies walking and feeding, we stayed 2 hrs without moving the car, we were amused of being in tune with the herd, in the middle of them without altering their behaviour, without threatening them, without being threatened, just being part of the herd. Many more elephants were scattered in the sand river bed, busy digging for water and sand bathing...
yessas, was great...
