Noah's Ark

There is a strange mist covering everywhere here around, like if you are into a big cloud that extends all over the park. It makes beautiful landscapes but it is also quite eerie. We went to see the same fat lion of yesterday mostly out of curiosity to see what was going on there. Vultures both white backed and hooded are silently perching and waiting, opposite to them black backed jackals are circling around the lion and the dead zebra, each time daring a closer look. It’s amazing to see how they get closer and closer. The lion often stands and looks around to lay down again after few minutes. If it is possible he is even fuller then yesterday.Around him the normal life of the bush goes on, and lot of animals come closer and closer unaware of the presence of the cat, no danger anyway, the guy way too fed. There is so much life around some dedicated to waiting what will be left of the carcass, some just looking at the lion to be sure he is not a danger, others just keeping on their daily duties. We can count 24 giraffe, more the 30 zebras, plenty vultures, plenty impalas, one lion, 9 black backed jackals and one spotted hyena within 300 mtrs radius, not even counting al the cisticolas displaying that I am still trying to ID.. I felt like I was in Noah’s ark. Great feeling.

.

It was a great day, we saw lions other two time, once again on another zebra kill and more then this we saw a Serval, even if from distance a great sighting.

Yesterday I forgot to mention a pair of white tailed mongoose on the road to camp together with the spotted eagle owl that was so kind to show himself also today.
