One of the guests told me that he heard that the record of lions in
one day in this park was 50, I told him that I think it was more then
that... today anyway we saw 4 different prides for a total of 52
individuals..
It was good fun also because guests are again supernice. We started
with 6 young lions close to the new bridge, probably a split of
Kipunji pride. They were basking in the sun with no intention to move.
We went to the second forest guessing that bushbuck pride would have
still been there at the buffalo, and there they were.
With all the cubs they are always such a show, some cubs and females
were also busy to chase vultures and jackals from the remains of the
buff... completely useless bunch of bones and dry hide.
on the way to camp we stepped on mdonya juu pride.. also here a lot of
playful cubs.
We came to camp a bit earlier with the intention of having a brunch
and heading off earlier for a longer afternoon drive... the decision
paid off as we got lions feeding on a freshly killed zebra. Blood
smearing their faces two big male of msembe pride were feeding
together with a female, three fat, bloated cubs were resting in shade.
The day finished with bushbuck pride again... in the evening light...
As we drove off a male started roaring from the acacia kirkii
shrubland.... one of the bushbuck male going back to the pride... we
did not see it but the sound was even a better ending of the day
